Details of Nine New Amrit Bharat Express Trains launched by the Indian Railways, in January 2026

Amrit Bharat Express trains are fully non-AC express trains that contain 11 General Class coaches, 8 Sleeper Class coaches, 1 Pantry Car, and 2 Second Class–cum–Luggage–cum–Guard Vans with disabled-friendly compartments.
Amrit Bharat Express trains are fully non-AC services with Sleeper coaches as well as General Class coaches. They're designed and manufactured to deliver a modern, comfortable, and high-quality travel experience at affordable fares, in the non-AC segment.
The Amrit Bharat Non-AC sleeper travel is priced at around ₹500 per 1,000 kilometres, with no dynamic pricing, and proportionately lower pricing for short and medium-distance journeys, to ensure accessibility and affordability for the common passengers or budget rail travellers.
These new Amrit Bharat Express routes link the northeast, eastern, central, western, and southern parts of India, connecting border areas, major cities, and pilgrimage centres.
As of January 2026, there were already 30 Amrit Bharat train services active in India, and now, on 17th and 18th January 2026, 9 New Amrit Bharat Trains were launched. Here's the details of each of these new trains.
1. Kamakhya-Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express

Train No.s 15671/15672 Kamakhya-Rohtak-Kamakhya Amrit Bharat Superfast Express is a long-distance train that connects Kamakhya, a major spiritual hub in Assam, with Rohtak in Haryana. This Amrit Bharat Express enhances connectivity between the North-East and Northern regions of India.
- Operates as a weekly service across Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana.
- Train Timings: Departs Kamakhya at 10:00 PM on Fridays, arrives Rohtak at 2:45 PM on Sundays.
- Return journey departs Rohtak at 10:10 PM on Sundays, arrives Kamakhya at 12:15 PM on Tuesdays.
- Serves multiple districts across six states and passes near destinations such as Kamakhya Temple of Guwahati in Assam and the Ganga ghats of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
2. Dibrugarh - Lucknow Amrit Bharat Express
Train No.s 15949/15950 Dibrugarh – Gomti Nagar (in Lucknow) Amrit Bharat Express establishes a vital rail link between the North-Eastern and northern regions of India.
- Originates from Dibrugarh in Assam and passes through Dimapur in Nagaland, connecting frontier and border regions with Uttar Pradesh.
- Passes close to major destinations including Kaziranga National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Kamakhya Temple, Vikramshila Mahavihara, Ayodhya and Lucknow.
- Expected to boost tourism, local trade, small businesses and mobility between popular pilgrimage centres and major cities.
3. New Jalpaiguri-Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Express: From Dooars to Nilgiris
Train No. 20604/20603 Nagercoil – New Jalpaiguri – Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Superfast Express links the eastern Himalayan foothills with the southern tip of the country. This long-distance train service enhances connectivity between several states or regions in India.
- Connects New Jalpaiguri, a key border-area hub near Bhutan and Bangladesh, with Nagercoil in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu.
- Operates as a weekly service along a strategically important corridor linking border-adjacent regions, ports, industrial belts and hinterlands.
- Passes near popular travel and tourist destinations such as Darjeeling–Dooars, Visakhapatnam beaches, Madurai (Meenakshi Temple) and Coimbatore.
4. New Jalpaiguri-Tiruchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express:
Train No. 20610/20609 Tiruchchirappalli – New Jalpaiguri – Tiruchchirappalli Amrit Bharat Superfast Express runs from the foothills of Darjeeling to the southern east coast of India.
- Begins at New Jalpaiguri in Siliguri, West Bengal, an important border-region station, and connects it with Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu.
- Passes through destinations including Agra, Prayagraj, Bhubaneswar, the Cauvery river delta, Thanjavur and Chennai.
- Connects the Gateway to the Northeastern parts India with the temple, beach, and pilgimage hubs in the Southern regions of India, such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
5. Alipurduar-Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express
Train No.s 16597/16598 SMVT Benglauru – Alipurduar - SMVT Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Superfast Express provides a direct rail link between a strategic border district and India’s technology capital, and enhances east–south connectivity.
- Weekly service connecting Alipurduar near Bhutan with SMVT Bengaluru.
- Train Timings: Departs Alipurduar at 10:25 PM on Mondays.
- Returns from Bengaluru at 8:50 AM on Saturdays.
- Connects districts across West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, facilitating travel and tourism across these regions.
6. Alipurduar-Mumbai (Panvel) Amrit Bharat Express
An important east–west rail corridor connecting North Bengal’s border belt with Panvel, the Gateway to Mumbai Metropolis.
- Weekly service connecting Alipurduar with Panvel, traversing West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
- Train Timings: Departs Alipurduar early Thursday morning, arrives Panvel by Saturday evening.
- Return journey begins Panvel on Monday, concludes Alipurduar on Wednesday.
- Provides access to major destinations including Darjeeling, Triveni Sangam, Chitrakoot Dham and Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga, supporting tourism and trade.
7. Santragachi-Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express
Train No. 16107/16108 Tambaram – Santragachi – Tambaram Amrit Bharat Weekly Express strengthens east–south rail connectivity. This service links eastern India with southern metropolitan and suburban regions.
- Connects Santragachi near Kolkata with Tambaram, Chennai’s suburban hub.
- Connects districts across West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu by improving access between these regions.
- Passes near landmarks such as Jagannath Temple, Konark Sun Temple (UNESCO World Heritage site) and Shore Temple (UNESCO site), boosting tourism and regional trade.
8. Howrah - Anand Vihar Amrit Bharat Express
Train No.s 13065/13066 Howrah - Anand Vihar Terminal – Howrah Amrit Bharat Express service provides a fast and dependable rail link between eastern India and the National Capital Region.
- Weekly service connecting Howrah with Anand Vihar Terminal, in Delhi.
- Train Timings: Departs Howrah at 11:10 PM on Thursdays, arrives Anand Vihar at 2:50 AM on Saturdays.
- Return journey departs Anand Vihar at 5:15 AM on Saturdays, arrives Howrah at 10:50 AM on Sundays.
- Improves access between major districts across West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
9. Kolkata (Sealdah) - Banaras Amrit Bharat Express
Enhances connectivity between eastern parts of India and one of the India’s most significant spiritual centres.
- Daily service connecting Sealdah in Kolkata with Banaras.
- Train Timings: Departs Sealdah at 7:30 PM, arrives Banaras at 7:20 AM the next day.
- Return journey departs Banaras at 10:10 PM, arrives Sealdah at 9:55 AM the next day.
- Passes near pilgrimage destinations including Baidyanath Dham Jyotirlinga, Takht Sri Patna Sahib, Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Sarnath, boosting religious tourism and regional growth.

In addition to these 9 new Amrit Bharat Express trains, the first-ever Vande Bharat Sleeper Express Train (Train No. 27576) between Kamakhya (KYQ) and Howrah (HWH) stations, is scheduled to commence on 22 January 2026 from Kamakhya, and on 23rd January 2026 from Howrah.
