The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had launched the RajmargYatra, a Unified Mobile Application for National Highway Users in India, a couple of years ago in August 2023. Since then, it's been updated with some new features and capabilities. Here's some details and features of the app.
This app was launched for providing travellers with comprehensive information on Indian National Highways and to offer an efficient complaint redressal system.
Rajmargyatra is the official, all-in-one app, by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and it is available on Google Play Store for Android devices and Apple App Store for iOS devices.

- Comprehensive Highway Information: 'Rajmargyatra' serves as a one-stop repository of essential information for National Highway users. Get real-time weather conditions, timely broadcast notifications, and access to details about nearby toll plazas, petrol pumps, hospitals, hotels, and other essential services that ensure a seamless and safe journey on National Highways.
- Hassle-Free Complaint Redressal: The app comes equipped with an inbuilt complaint redressal and escalation mechanism. Users can easily report highway-related issues, attaching geo-tagged videos or photos for better clarity. The registered complaints will be handled in a time-bound manner, with system-generated escalations to higher authorities in case of any delays. Users can also track the status of their grievances for complete transparency.
- Seamless FASTag Services: 'Rajmargyatra' integrates its services with various bank portals, making it convenient for users to recharge their FASTags, avail monthly passes, and access other FASTag-related banking services – all within a single platform.
- Over-speeding notifications and voice-assistance to encourage responsible and safe driving behavior.

- With this app you can purchase, track your usage, and manage your pass directly in NHAI’s official app.
- Using this app, you can lodge and track complaints about road conditions, toll operations, or facilities, along the tolled stretches.
- The app works in English, Hindi, and over 13 other regional languages of India.
- You may access detailed information on any National Highway toll plaza, including the rates, operator details, and amenities.
- You can locate petrol pumps, toll plazas, rest stops, hospitals, etc., along the National Highways, by using this app.
- With the revamped Route Planner (EnRoute) in this app, you may plan your journeys and see all the tolls on your route — including National, State, and private plazas. You can get the precise cost estimates and instantly see how much you save with the Annual Pass.
- You can get immediate assistance by calling the 1033 National Highway Helpline directly from the app.

Is it mandatory to use the Rajmargyatra App?
No, it is not mandatory to use the Rajmargyatra App for toll payments or for travelling on National Highways in India. Using the app is only optional and you are free to choose whether to use it or not, and if you use it, you may discontinue using it anytime you wish.
While having a FASTag is mandatory for category M and N vehicles (that is, vehicles with four or more wheels), the Rajmargyatra app is not mandatory and it is not required to pay tolls using FASTags and you can use your FASTag as usual without ever installing the app.
However, Rajmargyatra app provides certain FASTag-related conveniences, such as : Recharging your FASTag wallet or for availing a FASTag Annual Pass, to monitor FASTag status, as well as several other features as aforementioned, such as, estimating the precise toll cost for your route, etc.
