National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced today on 3rd October 2025 that they are going to install National Highway Project Information Sign Boards with ‘Quick Response (QR) Codes’ along the stretches of National Highways in India.

These signboards will be installed for providing useful information on relevant project-specific details, nearby facilities, and emergency helpline numbers to travellers on the National Highways.

What information will it provide?

The vertical QR Code Sign Boards are going to provide project-specific information, such as, the National Highway number, Highway chainage, project length, construction and maintenance periods, contact numbers for Highway Patrol, Toll Manager, Project Manager, Resident Engineer, 24x7 National Highway Helpline 1033, NHAI field office.

It will also provide details about nearby facilities like hospitals, petrol pumps, toilets, police stations, restaurants, distance to toll plaza, truck lay bye, puncture repair shops and vehicle service stations, e-Charging points or Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, etc.

Where will they be placed?

These ‘QR Code’ sign boards will be placed along the National Highways near the wayside amenities, rest areas, toll plazas, truck lay-byes, highway start or end points, and other signage, for better visibility and convenience of National Highway travellers.

With these QR code signboards, the NHAI aims to provide specific information and to enhance road safety through better access to emergency services and local information, and to improve the overall travel experience and awareness on the National Highways across India.

Earlier this year, the FASTag Annual Pass became available for private non-commercial vehicles, which costs ₹3,000 and covers 200 passages through toll plazas, with 1 year validity. Read More about FASTag Annual Pass >
