Details of FASTag Annual Pass
Below are some useful details about this annual pass.
Basic details of the annual pass
- A FASTag annual pass will cost ₹ 3,000 and it allows free passage of private or non-commercial vehicles (car/jeep/van) at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas for 1 year or 200 trips (whichever is earlier). That is, once you purchase this pass, you can travel through 200 toll plazas which may be on National Highways (NH) or National Expressways (NE) of India.
- This Annual Pass will be effective from 15th August 2025.
- The FASTag Annual Pass is valid for one year from the date of activation or 200 transactions (number of trips through toll plazas on NH or NE), whichever comes first. That is, if you cross 200 tolls before 1 year is completed from the activation date, then your FASTag annual pass will expire and you will need to reactivate it again with Rs. 3,000 which will give you another 200 trips through tolls with 1 year validity from the date reactivation. Otherwise, you can use this pass up to a whole year, until you've crossed 200 tolls on a NH or NE in India. You may reactivate as you need, whenever you require it.
- Here is what counts as a single trip under this Annual Pass:
- For point-based fee plazas: Each crossing of fee plaza counts as one trip. A round trip (to and fro) counts as two trips.
- For Closed Tolling fee plazas: One pair of entry and exit counts as one trip.
- After you purchase this Annual Pass for your vehicle's FASTag and your vehicle completes either 200 trips or one year from the date of activation, it will then automatically revert to working as a regular FASTag and applicable toll fee will then be deducted at each FASTag toll booths. If you wish to continue using the Annual Pass benefits for your FASTag even after completing a total of 200 trips through toll plazas within 1 year, you will need to re-activate your Annual Pass to get 200 trips and 1 year validity.
- Note that it is valid only at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas. At other toll fee plazas, such as, on Expressways, State Highways (SH), etc., that are managed by State Governments or local bodies, parking etc., the FASTag will operate as a regular FASTag, and you may be charged a regular toll or user fee charges.
Availability and Activation
- The Annual Pass is available only for private non-commercial Car, Jeep, or Van, after verification through VAHAN database. Use of this annual pass on any commercial vehicle will result in immediate deactivation without notice.
- The Annual Pass can be activated only on the Rajmargyatra mobile application and on the NHAI website.
- The Annual Pass will be activated after verifying the eligibility of the vehicle and the associated FASTag. Upon successful verification, the user must make a payment of ₹3,000 for the base year 2025–26 through the Rajmargyatra mobile app or NHAI website. Once the payment is confirmed, the Annual Pass will be activated on the registered FASTag normally within 2 hours.
- The Annual Pass will be activated on your existing FASTag, if it meets the eligibility criteria, such as: it is properly affixed on your vehicle’s windshield, it is linked to a valid Vehicle Registration Number, it is not blacklisted, etc. There is no need to purchase a new FASTag for this annual pass.
- The Annual Pass will be activated only for FASTags properly affixed to the windshield of the registered vehicle. The Annual Pass cannot be issued on FASTags registered only with a chassis number. You must update the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) to activate the Annual Pass.
- You will receive SMS notifications related to your Annual Pass. When you activate it, you consent to allow Rajmargyatra to retrieve your registered mobile number from the FASTag issuing bank for SMS alerts and other modes of communication.
Other details
- This annual pass is non-transferable. It is valid only for the vehicle on which the FASTag is affixed and registered. If you purchased an annual pass for your vehicle's FASTag, it will be applicable to that vehicle only. Using it on a different vehicle will lead to deactivation.
- This Annual Pass is not mandatory and existing FASTags will continue to operate as usual. If you do not purchase the Annual Pass then you can continue using FASTag as before, that is, pay individually per toll plaza through your vehicle's FASTag.

How this annual pass is beneficial
This FASTag annual pass will be really useful to you if you frequently travel through tolled sections of National Highways (NH) or National Expressways (NE) in India. You may not not need it if you don't travel through such highways more often.

Just calculate how many NH or NE toll plazas you may cross per year, or whether you cross such tolls over 200 times within a year. Then calculate the total amount that you may spend in case the toll is deducted individually at those toll plazas.
Just for getting a rough idea, even if you consider that the toll fee is just ₹20 for your car/jeep/van per toll plaza, then for going through 200 such tolls anywhere along any NH or NE (single journey, without return journey within 24 hours), it will cost you ₹4,000.
And you'd already know that tolls at toll plazas may be much more than just ₹20 and they can be over ₹50 or ₹60 or in some cases be over ₹100 even, depending on the criteria on which the tolls are determined, such as the length of the tolled section (kilometres) and the base rate (rupees) per kilometre. That is, the longer the distance between two toll booths, the toll fee amount will be higher.
So, if you're making a lot of trips along tolled stretches of NH or NE anywhere in India and if it costs you more when you're tolled individually at each toll plaza, then this annual pass will save you some good money.
