Also, with the new Passenger Reservation Engine being simultaneously revamped, a fully functional new IRCTC portal is to be available in a few weeks.

The beta version of the new IRCTC website was launched today on 15 July 2026 at 09:00 PM for users to experience the new look and feel of its new website and provide feedback on its features.

IRCTC is a public sector enterprise under the Government of India's Ministry of Railways, operating as a specialised subsidiary of Indian Railways.

The IRCTC website was launched two decades ago in 2002. Now in 2026, it currently handles an average of around 14.5 lakh tickets per day. The new Beta website features a clean user interface and a simplified user experience.

Where to check out the New Beta Website of IRCTC?

This new Beta website of IRCTC can be accessed at the link: https://www.irctc.co.in/eticket/ . A link to this beta version is also provided on homepage of the existing IRCTC website.

Just like the current IRCTC website, its new Beta website is accessible on both desktop or laptop computers as well as on mobile phones through web browsers.

Main improvements on the New Beta Website of IRCTC

Four major improvements in the beta version of IRCTC website are:

  1. No unnecessary CAPTCHAs. No unnecessary pop-ups. No flashing graphics. No distracting elements.
  2. Seat availability is visible across all classes.
  3. Faster checkout by reduction in the number of steps required for booking.
  4. Easier repeat booking through saved passenger details.

What is a Beta Website?

A beta website is a pre-release version of a website, which is made accessible to users to test its functionality, design, and user experience in a real-world scenario before its official public launch.

More on the Beta Website and the upcoming New IRCTC website

As per the announcement of Ministry of Railways, Govt. of India, today on 15 July 2026, this new Beta website is for facilitating user feedback on further improvements that will be incorporated in future updates to the website, for enhancing customer satisfaction.

In addition to that, was also noted that the IRCTC website will also very soon be integrated with the upcoming new Passenger Reservation Engine. As the Passenger Reservation Engine is also being revamped in parallell, the fully functional new IRCTC portal will be available in a few weeks.

The IRCTC is revamping the decades-old Passenger Reservation Engine that powers various train booking apps. This requires extensive work as the system has to remain operational throughout the upgradation process. This new Passenger Reservation Engine is said to be launched very soon.

The improvements implemented in the beta website were suggested by the students of Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) during their interaction with Hon'ble Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw. The students were made a part of the design process, where they provided suggestions on improving the look and feel of the website. Based on the feedback received, the new beta website is now ready for trial to all users.

The IRCTC has requested users to provide valuable suggestions and feedback on the new design of its Beta Website, which will help them further improve the IRCTC website.

Apart from the official IRCTC website, Indian Railways also provides all-in-one single app RailOne for all its passenger services, to be used on phones.
