Under the simplified guidelines, only the front picture showing the number plate and FASTag will be required

NHAI has simplified the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for FASTag users. Under the revised guidelines issued by Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), only the front picture showing the number plate and FASTag will be required.
Also, under these revised guidelines, FASTag services will not be discontinued for non-compliant vehicles, and sufficient opportunity will be provided to complete the KYV process.
As per the latest announcement by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India, on October 30, 2025, the NHAI has simplified the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for FASTag users for enhancing convenience and to improve the overall customer experience.
Under the simplified KYV guidelines, only the front picture showing the number plate and FASTag will be required to be uploaded, and the side photographs of Car/Jeep/Van will no longer be required.
Also, there will be provisions for automatically fetching the RC details from Vahan when you enter the Vehicle Number, Chassis Number, or Mobile Number. If there are multiple vehicles that are registered for a single mobile number, then you will be able to select the vehicle for which they wish to complete KYV.
To maintain continuation of services, FASTags issued before the KYV policy will continue to remain active, unless there are complaints received for loose tags or misuse. Also, the issuer banks will send SMS reminders to complete KYV, in case it is has not been completed for the vehicle.
In case any FASTag user faces any difficulty in uploading documents for any reason, the issuing bank shall proactively contact the customer and assist in completing the KYV process, before disconnection of the FASTag.
You may also lodge complaints or raise queries on the National Highway Helpline Number 1033 for any KYV related issues with their issuer bank.
