For the first time, a Bharat Gaurav Train arrived at Sairang railway station in Mizoram, under the “North East Discovery” circuit, as per the Ministry of Railways' post on X, on 14 February 2026, marking a milestone in tourism and growth in the region.

Bharat Gaurav Trains are theme-based tourist circuits with tourist trains, which are part of tourist packages that includes off-board travel and excursions by buses, stay at hotels, tour guides, meals, travel insurance etc., including tour packages operated by Indian Railways through their subsidiary Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) Tourism.

Sairang Railway Station in Sairang town of Aizawl district, is just around 20 kilometres by road from Aizawl city which is the capital of Mizoram.

The new Bairabi-Sairang railway line brought Mizoram's capital city Aizawl on India's railway map for the first time, last year on September 13, 2005, when Indian Railways began Three New Train services to Sairang, near Aizawl.

This scenic Bairabi-Sairang railway route covers 51.38 Kilometres in this hilly lush green mountainous region with tough terrain, crossing picturesque lush green hills, valleys, and rivers. This railway route is an engineering marvel containing a total of 45 tunnels, 144 bridges, and 11 railway overbridges plus underbridges.

Indian Railways operates tourist trains on theme based circuits under the banner of Bharat Gaurav Tourist Trains. The exterior of these Bharat Gaurav trains showcase popular Indian monuments, sculptures, landmarks, and dance forms etc.

This train has one dedicated modern kitchen car, two rail restaurants, coaches fitted with washrooms having shower cubicles, electronic safes in each cabin, foot massagers, infotainment systems, CCTV cameras etc., giving it a semi-luxury feel.

There is also the Karnataka Bharat Gaurav Tourist Trains that are run and subsidised by the Government of Karnataka (GoK) in association with IRCTC. These are run from Bengauru to destinations such as Kashi, Prayag, Gaya and Ayodhya. This fully AC train has 11 AC III tier coaches and accommodates 700 tourists.
