Just a few days ago on 5 February 2026, it was announced by BMRCL that the revised fare structure would take effect from 9th February 2026, which is a 5% increase in fares across 10 fare zones or distance slabs, resulting in a marginal increase with a minimum of Rs.1 and maximum of Rs.5 increase. Also, the Tourist/Group ticket fares is also raised by 5%. (View more details)
But now, with their most recent announcement on 8th February 2026, the implementation of these revised fares from today, 9th February 2026, has been paused until further orders. This BMRCL announcement further states that the decision on the revised fares will be communicated after the Board's review.
The fares were previously hiked earlier, last year from 9 February 2025 onwards. The commuters were not pleased by the fare hikes, and as per news reports, it made Bengaluru Metro the most expensive Metro train service in India.
As per BMRCL's announcement on 05 February 2025, it was announced that there will be an annual hike, that is, a hike every year, through an Annual Automatic Fare Revision Formula linked to operations and maintenance costs or a hike of 5% per year, whichever is lower.
However, now with their latest announcement, BMRCL has kept this annual automatic fare revision on hold temporarily until a new announcement on this matter is officially issued by them after their Board's review.
